Jeff Taylor
I’m Jeff Taylor, 68 years old, originally from Western New York and now a proud Nashvillian since 1990. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, sideman, band leader, songwriter and yes, the guy who built the house my wife and I live in. Music has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember, and I’m grateful to my parents who recognized my gift early and sacrificed deeply to nurture it.
My career has been a wild and wonderful ride here in Nashville, over 25 years with The Time Jumpers (six Grammy nominations and one win), and I’ve had the honor of recording and performing with folks like Ricky Skaggs, The Gettys, The Chieftains, Vince Gill, Buddy Greene, Elvis Costello, Alison Krauss, and Robert Plant, to name a few. Funny enough, my childhood instrument, the accordion, turned out to be the very thing God used as my “calling card” in this business. What I once thought was a weak instrument became a vessel for opportunity and purpose, and I’m grateful.
Though I’m still very much active in the live and recording music world, my greatest joy now is encouraging the next generation of talent as they navigate this beautiful, sometimes bumpy, path.
Being part of In Every Generation scratched a couple of long-held itches: my deep love of hymns, both the classics and the rich new ones shaping worship today, and my passion for working alongside young creatives. I made some fantastic new friends through this project and, as always, found myself learning from them. (Yes, I’m still in school, surrounded by amazing teachers.) Their presence reminded me that there is real, vibrant hope for the future of church music.
